An annual march to mark the brutal murder of a gay college student turned into a protest against a Chicago police officer Saturday.
The Gay Liberation Network used the Matthew Shepard March to demand the city take action against Officer Richard Fiorito.
As ABC7 Chicago first reported, Fiorito is the subject of multiple federal lawsuits accusing him of arresting gay and lesbian motorists in the Boystown neighborhood and framing them for DUI offenses.
Fiorito is on administrative leave.

Chicago DUI lawyer comments on protest against Chicago DUI Top Cop
This Chicago DUI lawyer has posted here, here, and here on Chicago DUI Top Cop Richard Fiorito. Now comes the news that many marchers at the annual Matthew Sheppard rally last night were protesting Officer Fiorito.
Well I spoke to a colleague of Officer Fiorito's last week. He was a bit offended that Officer Fiorito was being tarred with a homophobic brush. The officer told me that of course Officer Fiorito would arrest a larger number of gays, lesbians, bisexual, and transgendered people not because he was homophobic but because there were many businesses and bars catering to the community in the police beat where Officer Fiorito is assigned. The officer went on to say it was no different than a police officer who worked in a community that was primarily Latino or African-American being charged as racist since the majority of the arrests in those communities would match the racial/ethnic composition of those communities.
As an aside, while Officer Fiorito may be on administrative leave, as indicated in this article, I did see him in court last week.
