Chicago DUI lawyer comments on the State Rep's DUI arrest, while he's voting on legislation no less

This Chicago DUI lawyer has posted here and here about the consequences a DUI arrest could have on your ability to get a job.  It may come as a surprise that being connected may not be enough to keep your professional job.

An assistant minority leader in the Illinois House could lose his pharmacy license after being charged with driving under the influence.
Rep. Ron Stephens was arrested by the Macon County sheriff's department in Decatur in March. Authorities say the Greenville Republican's blood-alcohol content was 0.101 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
State regulators have notified Stephens that his arrest, coupled with a earlier disciplinary action, are grounds not to renew his pharmacy license when it expires next year.

Rep. Stephens is one of the co-sponsors of the following bill in the current legislative session.

Synopsis As Introduced

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State shall immediately revoke (rather than may, within 6 months of the date of conviction or one year of the date of the accident, revoke or suspend) the driving privileges of any person who has been convicted of an offense that involved the unlawful operation of a motor vehicle and caused or contributed to an accident resulting in the death of any person.

I guess it's a good thing that there wasn't a fatal accident in Rep. Stephen's case.
