Chicago DUI lawyer comments on the 13-year-old designated driver

This Chicago DUI lawyer has found that people will try an array of ways to avoid a DUI arrest. They may try to sleep it off. They may even call for a sober driver. Or they may try to switch seats when stopped by the police with a passenger. Now comes news of a DUI-prone couple using a child as the designated driver.

21:47 JUVENILE LAWS 091004055
Officer initiated activity at Sir Francis Drake Bl/Redhill Av, San Anselmo. While on patrol, Officer located a vehicle stopped in the road, with the occupants trading seats. The two adults : Heather Choulos dob/1-8-77 and Donald Hughes dob/05-18-80 were subsequently booked into Marin County Jail for 273A(1) PC (Child Cruelty) and 647(F) PC. The vehicle was impounded and the juvenile was released to a responsible adult. Disposition: Arrest Made.

It looks like these grown ups certainly complied with the spirit of the law. No one was charged with a DUI. Unfortunately, at the end of the day they will probably receive less severe consequences for Child Cruelty and the Drunk in Public charges than the DUI.
