A suspected drunk driver was arrested in Salem early Tuesday morning after deputies said he called to report that his marijuana had been stolen.
Marion County Sheriffs said 21-year-old Calvin Hoover called from outside the Free Loader Tavern on Lancaster Drive around 1 a.m.
He told dispatchers that $400 in cash, a Carhart jacket and 3/4 ounces of pot valued at $180 were stolen out of his truck.
Deputies think Hoover was intoxicated when he made the call.
A deputy showed up at the location, but Hoover was gone. Investigators said about an hour later, Hoover called 9-1-1 again, saying he was angry that deputies had not responded. Dispatchers said he was driving when he called and they had difficulty understanding him because he had to stop several times and throw up.
Deputies found him walking down the street not far from his truck, parked at 49th and Fontana Court.
Hmmm, did you notice that he wasn't in the car when they charged him with a DUI? Also, they didn't find any drugs on him so there are no drug possession charges either.
