A Northern Indiana coroner was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated soon after Indiana State Police troopers had also arrested his son for possible drunken driving.
State Police say a trooper stopped Derrick Sadler on a Whitley County road Sunday night for going 73 mph in a 60-mph zone. They found the 19-year-old had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Troopers contacted his father, Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler, to pick up the vehicle but say they found he also was intoxicated. His blood-alcohol level tested at 0.10 percent.
State Police say both Sadlers were booked into the Whitley County Jail on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated.
Perhaps Mr. J. Sadler will be able to use a necessity defense since the police told him to come pick up the vehicle. I guess we will have to wait and see.
In other news, Mr. K. Wygle tops them all. He was charged with a DUI for driving, I kid you not, his motorized bar stool. Oh yeah, he had an accident while heading home on the stool and called 911 for assitance. When officers arrived on the scene he was charged with a DUI and driving with a suspended license. I don't know but I certainly hope his license is not suspended for a prior DUI with a car.
While a DUI is nothing to laugh about, once in a while even a Chicago DUI lawyer can be good for a few yucks. Happy April Fool's Day!
